Kazphosphate in the government’s focus

High hopes are pinned on investment projects

Nurlybek Nalibayev got acquainted with the implementation of major investment and infrastructure projects in Zhambyl region

During his working trip to Zhambyl region, First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlybek Nalibayev got acquainted with the implementation of major investment projects in the chemical industry. Together with the head of the region, Yerbol Karashukeyev, he visited existing enterprises and production sites under construction.

In order to implement the tasks set by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the transition to a new economic model, special attention is being paid to the integrated development of energy, engineering, transport, and logistics infrastructure. This area is one of the key areas in the Government’s work.

The working trip began with a visit to Kazphosphate LLP. In January-April 2026, the company produced 246.1 thousand tons of products worth 64.2 billion tenge. According to Eduard Ogay, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kazakhmys Holding LLP, the company not only provides the domestic agro-industrial complex with mineral fertilizers, but also exports products to the markets of Russia, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and other countries.

The First Deputy Prime Minister got acquainted with new areas of investment cooperation in the industrial sphere using the example of the construction of a plant for the production of soda ash of the Qazaq Soda brand in Sarysu district. At the first stage, the production capacity of the plant will be 500 thousand tons per year, followed by an increase to 1 million tons. 1.5 thousand temporary jobs will be created during the construction period, and after the launch, 375 people will be provided with permanent employment. The plant will fully cover Kazakhstan’s domestic demand for soda ash. The completion of the first stage is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. İsmail Ceylan, Executive Director of YILDIRIM Holding, said that as part of government support, gas and electricity supply networks, a railway line and a water supply system are being supplied to the production site.

EuroChem-Karatau LLP is implementing one of the largest investment projects in the country’s chemical industry with a total value of 500 billion tenge. At the first stage, the production of 800 thousand tons of sulfuric acid per year has been established there. At the second stage, it is planned to launch the production of mineral fertilizers with a capacity of up to 1 million tons per year, which is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2027. When the enterprise is fully operational, 1.2 thousand permanent jobs will be created. During the construction period, up to 2 thousand people are involved there.

Following the inspection of the facilities, it was noted that government support and investment attraction should bring economic results: the launch of new production facilities, the creation of permanent jobs, the expansion of export potential, and the strengthening of the industrial framework of the country. In this regard, government agencies and the akimat of Zhambyl region have been instructed to ensure constant support for investment projects and prompt resolution of emerging issues.

In addition, the First Deputy Prime Minister checked the progress of projects in the fields of housing, energy, and transport infrastructure. Construction of 145 residential buildings, two schools, three kindergartens, an oncological dispensary, a multidisciplinary hospital, a boarding lyceum, a wedding palace, an innovative creativity center, and a sports and recreation center is planned in the new Balausa microdistrict in Taraz. The microdistrict is being built on the basis of a single architectural concept and, along with modern housing, will be fully equipped with the necessary engineering infrastructure.

Special attention was paid to preparations for the upcoming heating season. The progress of repair work, equipment modernization, and reconstruction of the 1.4 km long M-3 main heating network was inspected at the TPP-4 of TarazEnergoCenter JSC.

There was also an introduction to the construction of a new section of Abai Avenue with an overpass over the railway and a pedestrian crossing, as well as the reconstruction of the Taraz railway station. It was emphasized that all projects must be completed on time and in strict accordance with quality requirements. Responsible state and local executive bodies were instructed to pay special attention to the high-quality preparation of energy facilities for the heating season, ensuring the reliability of the heat supply system, and the timely completion of construction of socially significant infrastructure projects.
